Generally, the compensator can be divided into three lengths: the first is the length of compression, that is, the length of the hose when compressed into position; the second is the length of installation, which is in the middle of the larger displacement half of the length of the hose; the third is the length of stretch, that is, the hose is stretched to a length that can no longer stretch.
 
Installation of the hose should be in the middle of the hose, which is called the installation length. In this position installed state, the hose by the axial load can have two directions of movement, if only to a direction of movement, will affect its strength and reduce service life.
 
In the actual installation process, with a ruler according to the results of the calculation to measure the amount of hose length and then installed may affect productivity, so some foreign manufacturers installed the ruler directly on the hose, and then cut off the ruler after installation.
